i'm having a problem finding tires for my wheels. current tire on my wheels are 185/70/13 . i like these wheels but would not be upset if i need to find others. im currently setting my car up for autox in my region. can anyone recommend a website or maybe a tire for my purposes. 06 will be my first racing event so im a noob. i have spent a few hours searching i am familiar with that button but it seem to produce the info im needing. any help would be greatly appreciated

Do you want tires stricktly for auto-x or a set of street daily driving tires you can also use for auto-x?

i think i should get something that is dual purpose. im new to racing so i shouldnt spend too much and i will drive my car on the road to the events. i currently dont have a crew so it would be easier to just drive to the track and start practicing instead of wasting time with tire changes. SO with that said i need a really good street tire that will provide great handles at events tire wear is not too important.

Noobie?

Run what ya brung son, seriously don't worry about tires for right now. Your money would be better invested in a small air tank or compressor to inflate what tires you have. Oh and a nice tire gauge couldn't hurt.

Sean who autoxes on 440 tread wear all seasons and somehow still ends up beating the other guys on better tires in better cars.

well thats the problem, what i would bring would be some bald *** mismatched (look like tires found on donut wheel) pieces of ****. with the k24 they dont grip for **** due to all the tq. i already have a gauge and compressor. my next purchase will be a koni ground-control kit. figured good tires would help out alot with acceleration and stopping (stock brakes)

So run those crappy *** tires, trust me right now I can bet you any money a pro could get in your car and go 5 seconds faster. Try and make up those 5 seconds, then think about tires. Now if you are driving those crappy tires on the streets then by all means invest in a good set of all season.

Rule 1 to success in autox or road racing or anything... always remember where your towel is... oops sorry wrong reference... always have a rule book. Read the rule book to make sure the mods you plan to do are legally allowed in your class. Bumping yourself up into a mod of prepped class because you never read the rule book is silly.

K24, stock suspension and 185/70/13's somehow that just isn't right.

From the sounds of it you've landed yourself in Street Modified.

yeah my intentions initially were to just build a fast car. then i realized i dont have enough self controll on the street for that so i decided to try this car out in autox. its not my daily driver so im not too concerned about it. so now i have researched the classes and yes this car would put me in Street Modified. i am new to autox so i really dont know what im getting into as far as this class but it sounds like im out of my league. im really not trying to become a super star just looking for fun.

Sumitomo has some very affordable, reasonably performing tires (HTR) in sizes you can use. The run about $35-40 per tire. Good street tire, would be fine for casual autox.

im in the same kind of situation. i need 13" wheels to stay in stock class and there arent that many choices of 13" performance tires. i guess im just gona have to keep looking.

Kumho and Hoosier both make 13" stickies, you guys need to look harder.

He wants a dual-purpose tire though, and Hoosiers don't really qualify as that. Cheese, is there any particular reason you're using such a small wheel? If it was a 13x7/8/9 I'd understand, but with that tire size it sounds like a 13x5 or something.
