Default Need help for a rattle.

I installed Ground Control coilovers with Koni shocks in January 2002. About middle of this year I started getting a rattle on the passenger's side rear. I thought it was my A'PEXi N1 exhaust hitting the gas tank and fixed that. But now I'm getting a rattle on the driver's side rear.

Any idea what it could be? I thought it could be the shocks/springs, but before I go dismantling it in the damn cold, I thought maybe you guys could come up with some ideas.

Thanks!
Mike

My first step would be the check the torque on the spring hat.

My spring will occasionally rub the GC sleeve. All I do is jack the car up and spin the spring and make sure its lined up correctly. Generally this fixes all the noises. However, my comptech swaybar endlinks will rattle if I go over a "washboard" set of bumps.

Otherwise just make sure everything is tight. Also make sure your car is clean and the noise is not something rolling around.

be sure to check the rear sway bar mounts; all of them. i have had the mounting hardware come loose/break before during the winter months...

if you have a spare and jack still in the car, be sure to make sure that they are secured. they can make a heck of a racket when loose....

the last thing to check might be the shocks; the shocks on my Cobra rattle/clunk like crazy when cold for the first 5 minutes or so; i think they are worn out and have leaked substantially.... when they warm up from friction, they seem to quiet down... Tokico Illuminas, btw.

good luck
