Default minor release help

i'm only 15 and i want to be able to ride with my brother or other drivers at an autox event. since i'm a minor i have to get a special release paper. on the paper it says "the parent will immediately inspect the restricted area." has anyone ever had to deal with this. do they really expect my parents to go to every event to make sure it is safe before they let my parents sign the release paper. i sure hope my parents really don't have to go to each event to allow me to ride with people.

You should only have to have your parents sign this the first time and your region will keep a copy on file.

If you plan to attend a specific club's events then maybe take a parent to one and work with the organizers on this problem. I think the issue is one of liability more than anything else. If you plan to ride with a family member who is "of age," and has a signed authorization from your parents to act on their behalf that may do it too. Just remember that this will only work within a family, if it is legal to begin with in Ohio.

so do my parents actually have to go to one event to check to make sure the area is safe. do u think that my brother that is not a minor would be able to make sure it is safe, so my parents won't have to drive.

wapak huh? i used to live in Lima and come down to the WAPA theater for cheap movies. my daughter's girl scout/brownie troop did an overnight in the Neil Armstrong museum.

good luck.

Because you are a minor you will need a minor waiver (if you are talking about SCCA). Get your parents to contact SCCA national or deal with your region. BOTH parents will need to sign your waiver and both signatures will have to be notarized. Then your waiver will be on file. Yes it is about liability and insurance. Good luck.

It will be much easier to have them there 1 time. There will be no question if they come. Remember we are talking about a legal matter here. Even SCCA and NASA will insist on parental involvement in some form. I agree that you need to call Topeka-a free 800 call and talk to them to be sure.

Yeah, a parent will have to show up with the executed, notarized release to deal with the registrar of the event. Yes, it is part of the legalities of your involvement in motorsports. Just part of the deal but is no big deal.

They have a toll free number too. Call it if no response after two or three days.
