Default Hurricane updates

Any of your southerners have anything to report? The upper edge of the storm is supposed to hit this area (Philly) around noon, with the bulk of the rain and heavy winds coming in around early evening...

Chesapeake va about 15mi from the beach, less than 10mi from NC it's not all too bad yet. Couple small branches gave up early, lots of leaves every where but we still have power and nothing is broken yet. IIRC parts of norfolk have already lost power and I'm sure are already starting to flood. We're expecting about 80mph sustained winds here at it's worst, gusting a bit higher. Horray for being in the NE quadrent of the storm

EDIT: Trees and fences are starting to come down...
I count 3 trees and a whole section of a privacy fence as well as various branches all over from other trees. Hoping my neighbors tall pine trees will hold

I am in the western end of Suffolk, VA, only 10 miles or so from Franklin (which was flooded so badly by Hurricane Floyd in '99). We are a similar distance from the NC state line.

We are now starting to get the fairly heavy winds and rain, though Isabel's landfall isn't due until noon or later.

They are predicting sustained 60-80mph winds this evening for us.

We expect to lose power soon.

BTW, there is a webcam from Kill Devil Hills, NC here

It's raining like hell in Durham and the power has flickered out once. PC and related gear is on a UPS though

During I think it was Flloyd or Bob many moons ago, my brother and I sat in the middle of a large parking lot of a restaurant in lawn chairs... 60mph winds, watching the willow trees get blown over. If they were upwind of us, then we got sprayed by their leaves as it hit the ground.

There was NO rain where we were, just the wind.

Western NC report: A little breezy, mostly cloudy. The radar shows the rain has reached as far in as I-77, which is 2 counties away. So I might get wet tonight.

No drama here.
