Honda Challenge Results!!!
how'd the wagon do, i saw a picture of it out there, they must have got that clutch fixed?...when you say corey was leading..is that leading overall?
He was leading H2, 2nd overall behind Yack. He busted his axle downshifting and going into T1, went off at T3-T4 i believe. Last lap. He deserved the win on that race. He almost won yesterday too.... he was making up alot of time on the blue+black integra (alex?) each lap, then the full course yellow, then got a poor restart but made up alot of time again. Another 3-4 laps he woulda had him.

Wagon did a couple laps, they had distributor problems and borred Alex's of his GSR, because his car wasn't running right, bent exhaust valve or something...
I don't know why they only raced a couple laps in the race.. Something probably broke again....
corey - who wishes that car would be reliable...

Yeah luck just wasn't on Corey's side this weekend. He did great but just had something both races that screwed him. He was really moving both days, was gaining every lap on Alex after that bad restart on Sat, and he was holding off Adam all day today.
Yack. . . well what else can we say about Yack but he did awesome. Was pulling his usual antics once he got enough of a lead, dancing in his seat, waving to the crowd, honkin the horn, flashing his lights, hell the boy's got his cupholders still if he coulda I'm sure he would been toasting the crowd as well (can anyone believe he went that whole day without beer???).
There were a few car problems as usual, Eric's Wagon (that was fixed on Sunday since he ran), Alex couldn't run Sun cause of hitting the wall on Sat, Warren's brakes on Sun kept him out of the race (how was that excursion over to JC during qualifying??), Drew's car died during the race on Sat (I think it broke, since one second he was in the race and then the next I didn't see him comin through the carousel).
The #44 CRX coming up from the back of the pack to win his class. He didn't show up for grid till after they were under way for the standing start so he had to wait till everyone else had started and then he pulled in behind. Although if I heard the grumblings in the paddock correctly he did cut a few people off and wasn't racing to courtesly
, but I didn't stick around to get the whole story.
All in all a great weekend in my opinion. The H-C races were quite enjoyable, the Hyper stuff was aight (got me off station so I wasn't complaining), the drift competition was damn good, the burnout plate got a nice workout (couldn't handle Rescue One though, ripped the chains right off their bracers), how can you not love watching a beater run up a ramp even if Lil Grumpy didn't roll, and of course the Bikini Contest. I just have one thing to say about that. BETH, BETH, BETH, BETH, BETH, BETH!!!!!!!!

"If anyone has a way to post the results as they happen, I would be curious to hear."
Well if the damn phone line in the hyper-tower would not have stopped working I would have been able to post the results after every hyper-qual and hyper-race session since I had brought my hyper-laptop for that purpose... oh well.

Looks like we need some hyper-techs to fix the hyper-phone lines so you can do your hyper-duty and keep everyone who doesn't have the pleasure of being there hyper-informed.

Just to chime in on this - I do NOT agree that he did anything heroic or impressive. What he did was stupid, and he *deserved* to total that car. He hit the wall hard enough to bring out the pacecar, yet he did nothing to make sure the car was still safe.
I was immediately behind him on Saturday when he came back onto the track, and both of his front wheels were wobbling badly, and the tire was smoking from rubbing on the bodywork. The fact that he didn't blow the tire, or just completely lose the car into a wall somewhere, was pure luck and nothing else. Yes, under the full course caution, I pulled up next to him and tried to signal to him that the car was in worse shape than he realized, but he ignored me.
Then on Sunday, he knew the extent of his damage, yet he went out again, and still pushed it as hard as he could despite going "2 off" an average of once a lap. I know this, because again, I was directly behind him. He finally spun out in front of me exiting turn 9, and I honestly don't know how I avoided hitting him. Since the turn 9 cornerworker is on this list, I'm sure he can tell you how it looked from his point of view. I went back and forth between pedals, and somehow steered around him, but that should have been a wreck.
If you know that you have suspension problems, and can't control the car, you don't do wheel to wheel - period. Or if you do, you back it WAY off, and let other cars pass you, giving them a lot of room. Warren at CMP is a perfect example of how to do it right. Anything else is unnecessarily dangerous.
Beyond all of that, his reason for going off in 10 and hitting the tire wall was scary. He told me, "I just lost my concentration. I was thinking about something else and I lost it." What if another car had been there? Many people are doing this series so they reduce their chances of car to car contact. Do we want somebody out there who has concentration lapses?!?
He also was discourteous to the leaders when they came around to lap him, and almost effected the outcome of Sunday's race. Personally, I think this is a case where the 13/13 should be invoked though no car to car contact was involved....

One other thing. I want to say congratulations to, and applaud, the entire HC grid on Sunday's race. It hasn't been mentioned yet, but one of the H1 cars had a problem on the standing start. The entire back end of the grid made it past him (and Karl, who was stuck behind him) without any contact that I am aware of. Both cars got up and rolling, and rejoined the race without incident. I was too close to him to see the "Bookler Flaggers", but I assume they were waving their flags to warn the others. It was good to see that worst case scenario happen without negative consequences. So again, great job everybody!

I too feel that racing a car with damaged suspension components is not only stupid but reckless and irresponsible. It also shows a complete LACK of concern for those around you. It is one thing to do something that can kill yourself but when you do it in an enviornment where you can take someone else with you then that is just wrong.
And for the record - the 13/13 can be invoked in situations where a driver does something blatantly stupid even if it doesn't cause any car-car contact.

Yes they were and they did a great job, I saw the flag go up and the rest behind him did also, but of course my first tought was oh Sh*t, but every one did a great job, Giles did the pass in the grass and Karl got stuck but he was able to make up ground nad pass a whole hell of a lot of people.

I was in the same row as the stalled car. I saw Giles and a few others go around in the grass. Hopefully my camera caught them. I will check tonight.

Ohhh I didn't know the whole situation, nor did I know he went off every lap. Didn't know he had broken suspension, thought he was just going around in a poor car. As far as the lack of concentration, definately a reason to use the 13/13. Brian, Karl?
Unfortunately, in my experience with this particular driver, it's not "if", but "when and where" he goes off. He does seem to be extremely lucky by not causing major incidents though.
You have no idea what a sense of relief it was not to hear the crash as you T-Boned him cause I know that's what everyone around me thought was going to happen.
Matt
