Found a rollcage BUT....does anybody know the difference?
I came across a pretty decent deal for a cage but it is from an 92-95 Civic. I'm trying to figure out if I can throw it into my 96 Hatchback?
It's a 6point autopower for the 5th gen that I want to try and jam into my 6th gen.
If there isn't much of a difference, I might just pick it up and have my welder do some minor mods to it.... (would that be legal?) has anybody noticed the difference between the two because I have never seen a 6th gen 6point from Autopower before...!
Thanks for any input guys! I really want to start hitting lapping days and hopefully get enough experience to join the ranks of amateur racing....!

i cant say for sure, but even the bolt in kits fit rather tightly, so if its not made specifically for the car, it probably wont match up well at all, and a small gap here and there will make the difference and just may not be worth it, even if you had someone weld you stuff. its fine to modify a rollcage, nothing says you cant, just as long as its still within the overall rules. i say dont bother. but go ahead and call autopower and see if they can give you a better idea what the difference would be, then again, theres probably good reason why they sell em separately.
The problem you're likely to have is with the rear stays. They'll likely not be at the right length or angle.
We ran into this recently when we tried to fit an integra cage in an EG hatchback. It *almost* fit, but in the end, the rear stays were angled out too much. For some people, it may be better to save a little money if you know someone who can fix it. Personally, it's not worth the trouble of dragging it all over the place to get the work done. I'd just order a new one.

Also remember that if you're going to run with the SCCA, any car that get's it's competition logbook after Dec. 31, 2002 must have a cage constructed of DOM tubing. This may well end up, sooner or later, applying to any other organization that works off the SCCA rulebook. Better check with the current owner and find out if it's DOM or ERW tubing. ERW should be OK for track days.
Well I don't want to end up pulling the cage in and out because eventually I am considering racing....more than a lapping day.
Thanks for all your insight and opinions....I will find out more about the cage and maybe try to pass on this pretty good deal!
