Default Final Drive

I think I have decided on running a 4.9 FD in my H4 Del Sol Si. I just wanted to make sure the factory 1st gear will fit on this. Please let me know if you have put one of these in your D series.

Sorry Danny, I still have your message on my phone But I don't have any answers for you since the car is still up in the air (as usual). Is your D series different from mine?

I believe our trannys are the same. I hope I get my car together in time. It is sitting here with no tranny in it, but no parts on the way .

-Danny who hopes some things come together tomorrow

I'm in the same boat. Do you think it would be okay to drive with no front upper control arms or steering tie rods. If so, I'm there. Otherwise, maybe not. I'm hoping USPS drives fast. Of course, we DO have a complete car between the two of us.

As for the FD, as you may remember mine is also a 4.90 and all of the OEM Si gears fit fine within the OEM housing.

Glad to hear that it fits. Maybe we should combine our cars and make one that is actually worthy of the track . Hopefully we both get everything situated in time and have some good racing.

It just sucks to sit on my hands waiting for parts to arrive. It's going to be a photo finish just to make it to the grid. Hopefully someone else with a similar tranny setup will bring this thread back on topic and get you some better info. My setup isn't exactly track tested, but it looks great on jack stands.

What tranny are you installing the final drive in? Cable or Hydraulic clutch actuation ( EF or EG Civic)? Who is the manufacture of the 4.9 FD that you are using?

it's either a D16Z6 or a D16Y8, since it's a Del Sol Si.

Of course the FD will work...it's made for these trannies. I have a SRR 4.9 unit in my 94 Civic Si....best mod I have ever done power train wise
