Default EVAP System Removal

Hey folks, I'm building an H1 EK and I'm using the stock fuel tank. I'm just wondering what others have done in the past with the EVAP system at the tank. Thanks

Hope you have a decent budget for spewed gas - it aint cheap you know? Especially if you run any compression and you have to buy the sweet smellin' stuff.

So, should this be safe/legal? I just left the tube that goes to the evap canister hanging there, it was already chopped off there when I got the car.

I would say so because it's just fuel vapor not actually fuel (atleast that's my understanding)

Well, it CAN be more than vapour, you can get some liguid in there too (although usually not much) I have my vapour line running to my catch tank up front, with a check valve in line.

just make sure the vapors are diverted from anything hot (etc. exhaust, header).

Hope you have a good fire suppression system if you leave it hanging? Legal don't believe so, but I don’t know the rules of your race sanction body.

Run the correct size tube up and zip tied to the outside of the gas fill pipe.

Vent it through the panel, outside at the gas fill door. There should already be a small hole in the panel for fill over flow and H2O drain below the gas cap, just enlarge it and extend the tube above the level of the panel.

There should already be a stock check valve for roll over protection at the tank outlet for the vent tube but I can't tell from your picture.

So what would I be venting the vapors away from in this example? How would "leaving it hanging" elsewhere be much different?
