eager to TRACK
i want to learn to drive!lol. i mean real driving.
i have owned my 96 civc for 4 years now. motor swap and custom turbo.
i was/am a street racer. i am tired of pocket book racers.
i want to get serious about road racing.
my car is currently stripped. is it feasible to have a turbo track car(small turbo good cooling). or do i just ditch the turbo because of reliability.
i cant wait to get back to why i love cars. RACING not bullshitting

Straight lines are not the same as left and right turns and elevation changes.
Canyon bombing isnt the same as well.
The turbo will only cover up your mistakes (the power) & you wont learn how to drive the wheels off a bone stock car.
Run as close to stock as you can until you get experience.. (that doesnt happen overnight or in one track day) It takes many many to get there.
Only when you have experience should you consider re-boosting and start modifying the car .
Glad you decided to ditch the illegal activity, its very dangerous. We dont condone that here.
Find a local or the closest sanctioning body to you, and attend an event and watch.
Talk to honda drivers and ask questions.
Search all the topics here Suspension, tires, wheels, brakes etc. Its been covered here believe me!
There is plenty of good reading for future reference, but for now go stock or darn close to it.
Racing, time attack and even hpde events for the weekend can get pricey so be prepared to spend some money just to participate.
Gas to and from the track.
Gas at the track
Food
hotel unless your camping at tracks that allow it.
Fees for the event .. they vary from track to track.
Some expenses you can multiply if you are bringing people with you.
Check out the faq above do a lot of reading and you'll see what everyone is saying.
If you can find a board member who lives near you, contact them and ask when they are going to the track ,and see if you can tag along.
Best way to see it up close before you try it.

rent is nice, but not cheap. I rented a SM or SSM for my first school, when the 88 Civic blow up, it was $1200, I get all three meals and did nothing but drive and my crew did nothing but eat all weekend.
last year we got a ITS Integra for $5k. for for 4 times the money we got a decide setup car.
If you have a really good job renting is really nice, but if on a budget buy a used car already turn key, is better.

A developed, sorted finished car can often be had cheaper and better than you will do it. Follow NASA, SCCA, Grassroots motorsports - classifieds and you can get some affordable turnkey cars.
Heres a nice little road race to enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xnd2Rpl87_A&feature=plcp

The miatas look like they can brake later after the banking, is that typica?
Nice drive, you were busy.
Thank you! This is SCCA Club racing in the STL class. Yes, the Miatas have a definite advantage in the braking and handling department. My CRX can take them in the straights tho : )
