crow harness question.....
i dont have a harness bar on my rollbar yet , and when i get one , i plan on running it over the harness bar and bolting it to the back , you think they will be long enough drew?
no way in hell will it be long enough. I have the them and it won't work.
1st of its not a good idea, its WAY to much length to giv ethe harness, on crow's website it gives specific instructions on how to mount it. Any other way would be considered unsafe. If you want a harness that mounts to that location, get a harness that is designed for that. I think SABELT (sp), has harness that are designed to be mounted back there.
Different harnesses are made to stretch different lenth, and when you mount it differently then stated by the manufacture, you harness will not the way its supposed to. Stretch to little, or to much.
Personaly i feel ALOT safer with the shoulder straps going to the role bar

Why?
You want the shoulder harnesses as short as possible. The longer they are the more they will stretch and the less effective they will be. Look at race cars. NONE of them mount their shoulder harnesses to anything other than their cage's harness bar.

The Crow harnesses are no better or worse than any of the other harnesses on the market.
And just an FYI - Crow makes wrap style shoulder belts.
If this is what you have (negating color):

Then you can take the bolt eye off and convert it to a wrap style very easily.

I wouldn't mount a harness to one. I would use it as a guide bar but that is it.
I don't get it - you seem like you will do everything the wrong way and spend a lot more money (on the Sparco bar) just so you can bolt a harness to the back of your car (which is the wrong way to begin with).
Sorry but we are going to tell you the RIGHT way - regardless of whether or not it is what you want to hear. We don't care about agreeing with you and making you feel good about your "wrong way" installation.

i definatly want to do it right.... i wasnt sure about the sparco harness bar , if it was a cheaper alternitive to having one welded in , maybe ill just get a new cage.
If you want to keep your back seats safe and operational during every day driving, I'd just get a bolt in autopower, and throw it in for track days, take it out for every other day. It may sound like a pain, but I've heard of people doing it. Besides, they're not too hard to install and un-install.
i have an autopower bolt in cage , but its the street version not the race version with the harness bar . and i kept my back seats in but nobody gets in my seats , i took the belts out to make sure i couldnt take anyone in the back seats so im not worried about that

It shouldnt be more than $100-$150 for any competent cage/fabrication shop to weld a harness bar to your existing rollbar.

No it wasnt useless. If you dont use the sub belt (5 or 6 point) then you should not be using the harnesses. Period.

im trying to set this up right and im getting pointed in the right direction from some people in this post , i plan on using the sub belt for racing but not for daily driving . i was looking at so many harnesses i forgot they came with the sub belt.
thanks rj . im talkin to dtrfab about getting one welded in.

For daily driving you should just use the factory seatbelt. There's nothing more miserable than riding in your car all "strapped in" not being able to move when you're just driving to work. And when you're not "racing" you can still crash just as badly, and without that crotch belt, you'll still have the lap belt riding up too high after you tighten down the shoulder straps.
Physics don't distinguish between on-track and daily driving.
heh, and red lug nuts = sho kar.
Mike-who doesn't "know you" either.

from my understanding the reason why the crows come with the metal part on the shoulder straps is you can bolt it into the cage, when your in a car were the cage is the car. You can just take off the the metal thing and loop it just like everyone is suggesting.
here is how my harness sits when i drive on the street

honestly wearing the harness on the street would just suck. In more asspects then just not being safe. But if you want to i do belive that there are DOT approved harness out there.
