I recently purchased a dual axle 16ft open trailer that comes with electric brakes. For the meantime, I'm borrowing my wife's Jeep (Liberty) for local races but I would like to get the trailer brakes to work (it has a tow package). I bought a brake controller, per my local trailer store suggestion, but they were going to charge me like $175 just to intall it. Looking at the unit, it has 4 wires, (+), (-), cold brake, rear brakes...How hard can it be?
* Jeep doesnt have a ready harness under the dash, but there's a labeled blue wire for the trailer brakes. Looks like all I need to do is run a couple of wires from the battery, attach a fues (30 amp) for the (+), then find the cold brake wire...

do it yourself.. if you have any kind of mechanical skill, it's pretty easy..
with that in mind, I actually had a problem because the stupid company that makes the socket I bought mislabeled what each post was on their package.. so i had quite a bit of trouble shooting to realize that the power wire and the engage wire from the unit were reversed at the plug.. just a word of warning, in case you have trouble..
