http://www.speedbleeder.com

this is inexpensive, easy, and almost foolproof. just don't over-torque them!!

I have thought off and on about buying these, but have one question. You'll all probably chuckle, but I'm not trying ot be naive here. Are SpeedBleeders reliable? There is something clean, elegant and seemingly ultimately reliable about a simple bolt bleeder screw. Do you guys have any fears that SpeedBleeders could somehow leak or pop open more easily than a normal bleeder screw? I know racers here use them, but I suppose my application is far more street oriented and so might not get the same attention as often as a racecar. Any wisdom is appreciated.

Tried the hand pump. Horrible experience.

Considered the Speedbleeders. Still might get them if I keep the car.

What do I use to bleed the brakes? A friend.

I have the Motiv bleeder and have found that it is a painfully slow way to bleed the brakes. The helper method is much faster.

I think I'll end up sticking with what I know to work reliably.

speedbleeders might be better than nothing, but I'll take nothing.

It's a long story, but I finally took mine out last week and threw them away. As soon as I started loosening one of them fluid started running out... they'd only been in there 6 months and one was already broken.

Get you mom, dad, sister, brother, wife, girlfriend, neighbor or even a trained monkey to be the one in the car who works the brake pedal, and you be the one with the flarenut wrench opening and closing the bleed screw/nut thingy. The most time consuming part of this method is jacking up each corner of the car and removing/replacing the wheels... Still, you can do it in about 30 minutes or less.

Odd. I've had speedbleeders on the daily driver Eclipse for 3+ years now. No problems. Have them on the not-so-daily-driven SE-R for 2+ years now. No major problems either. I *did* wrap the threads in teflon tape about a year ago just to be sure I had a good seal.

I'm stuck on the old method..bottle w/ clear hose, 10mm wrench, and "honey would you come out here and pump the pedal for me"? If my wife knew those pumps existed, she'd buy me one for Christmas but I don't want one.
