autocross question
ok sorry if this is a stupid question but it has puzzled me for a while. in some pics, i see cars autocrossing and they have tape over the headlights in an X. what is that for? thanks
its used on the track to keep headlights in one peice of something (i.e. stray rock/gravel) flies up and cracks the headlight lens. Rather than the headlamp lens shattering all over the track surface and chewing up tires and causing a red flag....
for autocross alot of competitors will use an "X" in their car's number to denote a 'street tire' class. Or on the track it usually notes that the driver is an instructor ("X" for expert).
