using exterior paint... on interior?
i have painted several things on the exterior of the car... i have never painted interior pieces using real automotive paint.
question...
on the door panels there is padded vynl on most of the door panel. what is the recommendation for this? can it be painted right over? using adhesion promoter then your primer base and clear?
im just not a professional so i do not know the answer. but my work is very good.

Why are you trying to paint vinyl, when there are dedicated products to dye it instead?

You're not going to want to paint right over the vinyl on the door panel. I don't think it'll stay. Well, It'll stay for a while, but I would imagine it'll fall off after being exposed to different temperatures and being touch and having pressure on it.
You can use a dye to change the color of the vinyl, and that'll last pretty much forever I believe. (Ive never done it)
Most of the interior's i've seen where they paint pieces of the inside with an actual auto paint, have been one of two things. One being a fiberglass replacement, aka fiberglass door panel or something of similar nature, then painted on top no problem, same way as outside. And secondly, is just to paint the plastic pieces such as plastic trim rings, radio consoles whatever.
Another option might be, you might be able to pull the vinyl off of the door and paint whatever is under it, which I would thing is most likely plastic.
