replacing frame ek
well i traded a clean title eg hatch for this drity title ek hatch, have had a few rebuilds and never really cared untill now, no more rebuilds for me ever, so here is the story the car drive like crap shake like crazy under load, but the clutch is like a semi just jumps forward, so i did not think muck about the vibration, i figured change the clutch and be done with it, i could tell the engine bay had ben spary painted red and i looked for signs of frame damage before i trade and could not see anything i got the car home and was looking at it and sure looks like the engine is tilted to the right side of the car here is a pic look at the strut bar something is wrong
so after i started digging around i found that someone had put duct tape over damaged area and painted, it really was a nice cover up to rip someone like me off, so i started pealing the tape back to see whats really going one, what i found really shocked me,on the right side of the car behind the headlight before the shock tower had ben hit, some really smart guy went to fix this problem and cut right down the upper and lower fram from core support to haedlight, they must and started driving it like this becuse it had seperated about 2.5in or so, then some jack wagon weld a support bar in, wtf i cant belive i drove this thing down the freeway so un-safe
so i desided to go ahead and fix it, i had to take the engine out drop the supention the cross member fender bumper headlight and wiring harness all had to be moved out the way
got new rail from a 00 civic from junk yard spot weld cutter, cut all the spot welds, got both frames off, lined up the new frame took alot of messurement to make sure im square and weld the new frame in, then i sparyed it red (looks like a$$) i got the engine back in all the body parts put back on and drives great now, gonna do an adlinement this weekend
done deal now new frame is in took me about 40hr in all to finsh this by myself, i had my good buddy from lead foot auto weld it for me, i fix some things on the engine when it was out, so now i can drive it and not put myself and everyone on the road in danger
damn, that's crazy. There has to be a limit to the amount of dishonesty that goes on in this world...
But good work repairing it, and a pat on the back for actually caring about the safety of your car and others on the road.
