you can take everything off the car and paint it if you want to paint the jams. I would tape everything up and paint the jams first (once everything is preped). then tape the rest and paint the outside.
gun prefrences are up to to the painter. you do waste a little more product if you use a siphon feed vs a gravity. the real question is if you have a conventional gun or a hvlp gun.
different tips are for shooting different things. heavy primer is used with a bigger tip. paint and clear should be shot with a smaller tip.
depending on the car and color i would say about a gallon for a whole car and jams. maybe a little more if you want to spray the inside. a lot of guys will shoot the inside with single stage so they don't have to clear.

well today o order this guns from ebay Devilbiss HVLP Auto Paint & Touch-Up Spray Gun i think they are good just don't know much about the brand

devilbiss is an ok brand. Do you have any experience with auto body? Prepping and painting a car is a tricky task. By tricky I mean, there are allot of tricks that make a prep/paint job look good. I don't intend to imply you won't do a good job, or learn a thing or two from any mistakes, a "full dip" is allot of work. I'm new to hondaTech but auto body isn't something I think you can learn in forums.
Anyway, fer what ur up to.... I think a partial disassemble will save you a ton of hurt.
Open the doors.
loosen the bumper cover.
pop the hatch and hood.
Tape off really good.
you could get a cheap paint job at macco for the price of a really good paint gun.
Macco isn't the best, but you get your moneys worth.

1. good idea to take doors/fenders off the car=easy access to problem areas but can become a MAJOR problem if you cannot put them back on correctly because they need to be shimmed to properly fit the body lines again.
2. Go with gravity feed. Nuff said.
3. there are many varieties of tips for the guns but syzurs is correct about the tips
4. your probably going to need a gallon of paint too.
most importly the secret behind a good paint job is good body work. if the bodywork on your car is shabby before a paintjob down the road in a few years you will be kicking your self in the ***!
hope i could help!

Devilbiss hvlp are good guns. they make an entery level gun called finishline, it think. is it a dual stage? most hvlp guns require 13-15 cfm of air at 40 psi. most compressors can't handle that unless they are a dual stage motor.
you can take all the parts you want off but it will only cause more work for you. if you have the time, then go for it.
how long you can leave paint in a gun? it depends on the product. ask the person you are buying paint from to see what the "pot life" is and they will tell you.
Macco isn't to bad. they just don't prep the car that well or at all. it's not that hard to spray a car, but it's hard to prep it correctly.
dSol-93 is right, your if your body work sucks, your paint job will suck.

thanks guys for the replys i i do have time there is no rush on this project but i want it to come out all one color here are some pictures so you can see why i want to take everything off

Now I SEE. OK! How bout some pics. of the pillar between the door and fender? You want to paint the engine bay and Interior too, right? That car is already striped, you have like 30 bolts to take out and your done. Tip: use zip lock bags or cups and boxes to store and label your hardware. Don't be shy with the labeling, the more specific you are the better. Red scotch-brite and some ting, or detro-clean, or Ajax, will be your best buddy. I'm interested again now that you posted some pics.
hey thanks for your help i will get you the pictures tomorow i really will apreciated the help this is a project i will like to do my self

Im really into this, im going to be doing the exact same thing soon. I have a red eh2 hatch with a primer body
Only problem I have, is I dont have a garge to paint in, im thinking of building a small building to paint it though...Hopefully...
Sand Paper depends on what stage your at, and how nice you want it to be...The more sanding the better it will be. Also the type of paint you use will make a difference.
Im doing the Rustoleum paint job withc consists of using rustoleum paint. You can get it at most home improvement stores. Its cheap, and there is no need to primer or even clear with this paint.
For a decent job, you could wet sand at 600, spray your base coat, wet sand 800, spray again, wet sand 1000, and spary again, wet sand 1200, buff, and wax....
If your using regular autmotive paint its the same but putting primer and sanding it before the first coat, and then doing clear...

hey good luck man now i see why you need my mount lol. on the inside if most of it's going to be covered up i wouldn't worry about sanding like crazy. i never went any higher than 320 on the inside and it still came out decent. i'm having the outside professionally done.
Well the mount is necesarry when putting in an H22,you have to cut it and redrill to accomodate the engine mounts....Im putting an H22 in my hatch, go figure...
And you can get a new OEM chasis mount that you reweld to the body from Honda/Acura
Here is a link showing part number 26, its the mounting bracket that you would need to reweld on. Only $30...Not Bad ayy...

I have that same DeVilbiss kit and that is not for painting cars. That 2-gun set is around $100 and it is just for hobby stuff and possibly primer. I would not try to paint your car with that. I have shot auto primer with it and it comes out OK, but paint is another story entirely....
I would at least go for a DeVilbiss Finishline 3....at least.
