Hey i juss got a set of red drags dr16 i do not like thw red on them i want to paint them white with gold flakes but it has 1 1/2 lip n i dnt want to paint the lip. Can someone give me ideas on how to paint it with out painting the lip??

 

tape the lip off.

 

Ive tried but the tape i use doesnt bend i gots use lil piece by piece and i dnt want to use black tape cuz it leaves sticky marks. What tape can i use that can bend n not leave sticky marks?

 

3m green automotive tape.

 

use a thinner 3m green tape first to get a good line, then use thicker tape and go from there...

 

i cant belive this is an actual question though.. lol

 

The worst part is that the "black tape leaves sticky marks"...that's electrical tape.

I'll educate you on "tape" real quick since there's more than just 4 kinds.

Masking Tapes (for painting)

• Beige/Cream - Standard stuff, leaves a slight reside, decent for home use
• Blue - Painters Tape - Can be used for automotive masking as well
• Green - Highly conformable for curved masking and preferred for automotive use

Packing Tapes

• Beige - Thin and standard packing tape
• Clear - thicker (and better) packing tape

Specialty Tape

• Duct (not DUCK) - this is for AC ducting but is more commonly used as a fix all for everything. Also called "speed tape" or "race tape".
• Foil - Used for plenums of AC systems and for some automotive uses when heat containment/displacement is an issue.
• Electrical - Used to tape up well connected wires (soldered or butt connected).
• High Temp - Used in powder coating and comes in a variety of colors for various ranges of temperature
• scotch/clear - used to wrap packages (gifts, not appendages)
