we just resprayed the engine bay with nason paint. it was the cheapest base that industrial finishes has, its just base. gonna get covered with clear so dont skimp out on the clear is the way we look at it.

as for the primer, are you spraying it on bare metal or a previous layer of base/primer?

if your not stripping it down to bare metal...which should be avoided anyways if could, you can just use some urethane primer, i used nason primer as well. we shot about 3 coats of base and 3 or 4 coats of clear because were **** and wanted some depth. just remember, whatever the primer looks like is what your finish will look like. spend lots of time sanding the primer before layind down the base...unless you plan to wetsand the base as well.

thanks for the advice and information! really really helpful.

that leads me to another question.

Like a NEWBIE i didnt do my research before sanding down my fenders. the fenders are sanded down to bare metal. i used a Krylon Primer. the name of the krylon was Rust Tough? should i resand it down and spray it with a different type of primer?

for bare metal, epoxy primer is the best choice. the oem honda primer is very very effective at preventing rust, thats why its best to keep the very bottom layer of primer if possible
