Damage estimate please?
If you are familiar with body repair I would appreciate it if you could give me a ball park figure on the damage. The person wants to avoid the claim by paying me upfront, but I'm gonna file it anyways. Thanks guys.
-The door skin sustained some damage
-Fender is pressed in
-Slight scuff marks on the moldings.

looks like probally a 3 to 4 hour dent on the door
a 2 hour dent on fender about 2.5 paint time on fender and about 3.5 paint on door , and then R+I mirror, moldings, trim pannel , and belt molding, probally 1.8 so your looking around 14 hours labor at $40 an hour which is $560 then you have about $144 in paint materials, tax, hazardous waste removal, so your total is realistically looking around $800 give or take.

if u dont want to spend so much, just try to pull the fender SLOWLY out, then it will look align, dont look too bad to me, if u want tkae the fender off and try to pop it SLOWLY out, dont make anymore dents.....
same with door, try use ur hands before any bars or bla bla u get the point, do that if it dont work then take it to a shop

the last thing i want to see when starting work on body panels is that someone had already messed with it. people have this crazy idea in their heads that if they do some work at home it will make the body work cost less. it may make it more. let the people do their jobs. what could be a 1/10th of an hour job to a professional could be a 9/10th's job to you... and when you mess with something and bend it into a less workable shape, it may make that 1/10 hr. job into a 6 or 7/10 job for the shop. boom.. there goes your cost.
for the OP.. all of the price ranges you've been given are pretty acurate, but mugencivic94 is dead on. i put your info through pathways and came up with $880.
BUT.... don't report it right away. take your car to a body shop, get a free estimate, and take that estimate to the guy who hit you. talk it over, and it may be in the best interest of both of you if you were to settle without an insurance claim. you've got to remember that unless you have a really good policy, you may have to pay your deductable. that'll already put you back a good amount.

Thanks, the estimate came out to $990, you guys came pretty close. I went a head and filed a claim since the amount is going to be more than he thought. Plus I'm super busy, I really want to get this over with and get this resolved when I find free time.

I will keep that in mind, I wouldn't mind taking care of most of the damage myself to save some cost. I will pm you when the time comes and after I get the check.
