Don't make the mistake of calling all filler "bondo." That's like calling all tissue "Kleenex."
I've got friends that swear by Evercoat Metal Glaze and others that swear by USC Icing.
There is info in these two posts.

There is USC Icing and Evercoat Metal Glaze. Take your pick, they're essentially the same.
I did ALL my sanding by hand, except for the core support otherwise I used a DA, EVERY contour is and done, I feel when working with complex shapes, you can get a better feel with hand.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I plan on getting the USC icing because I can use it to fix my oem plastic bumpers and to smooth things out in the engine bay. I might also use some to smooth out a couple dings on the body.

we used to use evercoat, never used anything else so i cant say anything pos or neg about it. fiberglass filler seemed to be the best. use as little as possible though. "bondo" pancakes look worse than small dents.

if you are doing a larger area that would require a big fill, i.e. antenna hole, use a fiberglass with a piece of metal welded in from behind the hole. Filler is made just to fix things that are the size of small paint chips or divits left from fiberglassing.

I think there's a reason they call it filler and not diviter, Paint chips aren't supposed to be filled with a filler, they should be featheredged sanded, then that spot filled with high build primer. Pin holes in fiberglass and paint is filled with 1 part putty. Large dents and areas needing 1/8" or less require "bondo" or a plastic filler. And for small dents, use metal glaze or icing. I do agree about the welding metal in the antenna hole you mentioned, though plastic or fiberglass will work the same.

I didn't mean normal shallow chips that can be feathered, more of the chips that go deep enough that either metal is exposed, or when 320 will not feather the area properly and bringing the chip even would cause a cratering effect around the area. Yeah, 1/8th inch sounds about right for what you are talking about icing works wonders!
Use the evercoat rage to fill anybigger imperfections after you straighten the metal then feather it out into the paint, then use the evercoat metal glaze and go over the DA scratches where you featheredged onto the paint then block it all out 80 just to cut the glaze down a very light sanding then 180 then 320, dont try to fill anything but pinholes with the metal glaze its not made to fill.

I use anything. Evercoat, Bondo, whatever. It's not the plastic, it's the man behind it that counts. I prefer short-hair glass or monkey hair for larger work. Plastic should only be used for smoothing and finishing.
