Icon4 Question on Struts/shocks

I have a Toyota matrix. It's been doing a loose-wheel-like whenever it hits a bump or anything like that. So I check it out and I turns out that the strut boot is completely shredded (on both sides) and there is a sort of a bump piece sliding from the mount.
So my question is: do I replace the strut only or the entire assembly or do I just replace the boot. Nothing else looks broken, just the loose-wheel sound. Also when i brake, it feels like the tire moves either back or forward. I should also mention that this happens only on the driver side, but yeah, both side boots are completely trashed.
