Default Yellow fog lights

This is a functional question and not appearance question.

I live in a rural area where there are no lights at night in some areas, so lighting is important.

I understand yellow fog lights are good in the fog, because a color bulb will reflect less than "white" light. So it works better in fog or rain.

Fog and rain is not an issue in my area.

Are there any benefits of a yellow bulb in my area in terms of lighting?

I've looked into this topic recently and haven't found any information that convinces me that yellow light is superior in foggy/smokey conditions. It's been known that yellow tinted glasses can help increase contrast in foul weather conditions, but to illuminate objects in yellow light seems to have no advantage.

I would say it's up to the individual and whether or not they feel there's an improvement by using yellow light. Personally, I see no difference and chose 4300K since it closely matches my HID headlights.

Can you guys help me with my fog lights?
They used to work but, when my brother was driving it they just shut off.

Any information on what I can do?

*everytime I try to turn it on it makes a "click" noise but no light.

if it clicks, sounds like the relay is working because its receiving the power
have you checked your bulbs to see if they are blown?

My opinion is yellow fogs seem to work better for me and i sometimes drive in fog where i cant see anything. The yellow goes a bit further than my stock bulbs did.

From what I remember from my high school days, it was that light closer to red won't refract as much in the fog, and light closer to red that is refracted does not detract from night vision as light closer to the white end of the spectrum.

"White" isn't at the end of the visible spectrum, red and blue are. White is composed of all colors.

In theory, shorter wavelengths refract more, which is why yellow is supposed to refract less than white (which contains the blue end). Shorter wavelengths are also what kill night vision, hence red and amber being good colors to preserve night vision (and why I want to kill manufacturers who use blue LEDs in a dash).

However, the reality is that most lamps produce a form of white light, and to get yellow from that a filter is used, which cuts down the amount of light emitted. More light is generally better for visibility than less light of a theoretically better color. Especially since yellow light can make it harder to see items of certain colors on the road...
