TSX Projectors
 

Does anyone know what year the fresnel was replaced by the clear lens? Do you have any pictures of these two lenses?

07 and up are fresnel.
04-06 are clear
As soon as Photobucket starts working again, I'll upload pictures of both lenses.

What is the difference in light output between the clear and fresnel. I'm assuming the fresnel will be better since they are on newere models, correct?

actually the clear ones are better. They have a clearer light output and more blue/purple color flickering

Do you know why newer models of cars would use worse projectors? I thought things should be improving not getting worse with time. There has to be a reason why.

Some people complained about the quick flickering of the bulb u know when they go from white to blue to purple? that's what they don't like. Thats why the fresnel lense was made. To not project a sharp beam and make everything fuzzy that way it won't look bother you eyes more.
tsx fresnel has almost the same output but the cutoff will be blurry instead of really sharp.

frsnel lenses can also be ade much thinner than a regular convex lens, but based on that picture they both look about the same depth.

so would the flickering be like a normal thing? and is it only going to flicker in the beginning?

flickeriing is there but you will notice distortion instead of a pure and sharp blue/purple beam

I meant on the clear lenses. is the flicking suppose to be there or is it something to be worried about? and does the flickering only occur when u first turn on the lights or it's going to flicker like the whole time it's on?

and i thought that the clear tsx lenses give pretty good and sharp cutoffs with nice coloring.. why would there be distortion?

the flickering is a saying for when you look at a projector, you see the change in colors.
If the cutoff is real sharp, the flickering becomes really obvious.
So, if your eye level is below the cutoff, you will see one color and when the car goes over a bumper, your eyelevel will be at the cutoff and you will see blue and then once the road is smooth and flat, you will see the original color. That quick change from white to blue then back to white is the flickering effect.
What you're asking is if the flickering has something to do with the bulb. The answer is no.
One thing is the flickering effect of a projector. Another is a bad bulb/ballasts that causes the output to start blinking/flickering. The flickering from a bulb will look as dim then intense then dim, everything will be the same color.

Would the combo of 2004 TSX projectors + Lexus ballast + Philips bulb reduce the flickering? I'm in the midst of purchasing this and would like to know what you think.

ohh, so flickering is just seeing the like cutoff part of the lights that has color, so its not a bad thing since the road will be the original color anyway, right?

so the fresel is just to make the cut off coloring less clear?

That's correct. If the projectors have a clear lense, you'll have more color flickering than if the lenses were frensel.

Hey, i was just wonder because i got a shop to help me do the retrofit, and im a bit concerned about whether or not the projectors are secure because, you know the roads aren't very smooth all the time and im afraid the projectors might get loose.
how are you suppose to hold the projectors up tightly?
