Looking for a good projector headlight
I have a 1993 civic hatchback vx and I'm in the market for some projectors that are the OEM size. I hate the way the headlight with the attached blinker look!
I have an HID kit hooked up already. It's bright, but it doesn't illuminate that far in front of my car. This is what i'm looking for. If you know anything about these let me know or if you have any others in mind I would appreciate the help! http://www.andysautosport.com/honda/...o00062867.html |
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
aftermarket projectors arent meant for hids and dont have good output.. if you want output, do a retrofit..
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
I want the light more focused towered the road. With the oem headlight the light is shining really high up.
I'll have to do some research on retrofit headlights. Do you have any links that could help? |
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
hidplanet.. you dont want your lights shining up high, then youll blind people.. a retro will help shine down the road further without having to aim them high..
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
RETRO... INFACT if you dont have the skill, ^^^^ can probably do one for you,
there was also someone on here selling a complete retro with tsx projectors (which i believe are bixenon) so then you get the > OEM output and hi beams i think last i saw he wanted $350. look at spending close to if not more than that any way you do it other than a cheap HID kit which will only make your situation worse |
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
tsx arent bixenon..
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
I believe the 04-05 TSX projectors are bi-xenon.
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
no single xenon..
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
I've been doing research on it, but I still don't know much about retro fitting. The oem headlights don't have clear licences so it doesn't work to well with the retro projectors. I was thinking about trying it, but I need to find a cheap pair of oem headlights. Also what's wrong with my link? They look like a pre-made retro fit headlight...

Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
This is the HID kit that I have. Ill this work with a retrofit?

Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
they arent premade retros.. those are halogen projectors which arent made for hids.. quality on them arent great.. you need clear lenses ebay housings or send out the stock lenses to get sanded down on a machine.. yes you can use those ballasts
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
I guess i'm going to get CTR headlights and see how they work. If it's still the same I'll be doing a retrofit. :) Thanks for your help! It was very useful

Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
ctr headlights? theres no ctr for egs..
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
well the JDM black housing headlights http://www.jdmshit.com/parts/headlig...dlight_BLK.jpg
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
sorry again those arent jdm... they just name them that.. i just call them clear housings or ebay clear housings because thats pretty much what they are.. those would be best to do a retro in..
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
okay I thought so... This person is selling some headlights on craigslist that look the same as my lastlink. I want to get them but I don't want to buy crap housing. Are there real JDM headlights out there or are they all just black housing ebay headlights? Also is $100 too much?

Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
real jdm ones are like us spec ones but plastic and doesnt have the nipples on the lens.. 100 isnt bad for new ones.. use them to do a retrofit..

Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
I'm doing a retro this week. I'll post pics when I can.
Here are a few pics of my progress... Cut out upper area to make room for projector shroud: http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...o/egretro4.jpg Installed projector and shroud: http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...o/egretro3.jpg Both headlights done, just need to install glass: http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...o/egretro5.jpg Will update when installed. |
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight

Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
wow, that looks like Christmas :D What projectors are those and did you test where they were pointing before you sealed them or did you just eyeball it?
|
Re: Looking for a good projector headlight
My headlight retro isn't as good as Saggio's. Going to redo my headlights with some FX-R's and shrouds. but check out my fog lights. Blazer projectors from TRS with 6000k's but going down to 4200k. that pic is just the fog lights aimed at a bright parking lot wall. car was on an incline just to show the razor sharp cutoff. http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/...zker/photo.png http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/...er/photo-1.jpg

E46 Shrouds I didn't check anything as far as light before sealing them back together. Took 5 minutes to aim them correctly. Ozker: I want to do fogs now after seeing yours! |
