Anyone do one of these conversions yet? I feel like the product is too new, like they're where HIDs were ten years or so ago when it was all pnp.
Interested to see some actual feedback though.

I haven't seen any of the LED retrofits. I have seen quite a few HID projector retrofits. What is the interest in the LEDs? Just wondering or contemplating doing it yourself?
I'm still quite happy with my HID lamps (offroad only). I still use the halogen bulbs on the street though.

In no particular order,
- no ballasts
- emitters are effectively lifetime
- more efficient
- possibly don't need projectors? Jury is out on that, but could be good for people who have expensive (cough CTR cough) lamps or people like me who just don't care for the look of projectors in 96-00 Civic
- due to above, possibly don't need to split housings?
- next gen for lighting. HID is old tech now, really
- something a little different, so why not look into them?
Maybe I'll just wait for Audi's laser highs to trickle down, lol. Hopefully I'll be driving something nicer than an old Civic by then though...

From the limited research I've done,
-The use a projector most of the time
-definitely more efficient
-Last much longer
-hella freakin expensive.
I was looking for 6 housing enclosures (4 on a roof rack, 2 bumper lights) and priced both HID and LED. LED is way out there price wise. I think it was about double HIDs. I'm not sure how much brighter they actually are though. I've never seen anyone with LED lights (in real life, not the internet).
I'm not sure I'd call HID old tech though. I'm sure the basis is old, but there have been some industrial leaps in the tech. The price is definitely coming down compared to even older tech. I do know LEDs are the next 'big thing'.
What do you mean by split housings?

That's what I was wondering about regarding the projectors, thanks. A lot of the ones that I'm seeing are just the base/emitter setups, I wasn't sure if they just end up like pnp's (ie sucking in reflector headlights) or not.
There are quite a few out there for around the same price point as HID. Not sure on whether they are worth a crap or not though. That's the main reason I was asking, the knowledge base on these things seems tiny.
By old tech, I didn't really mean to imply obsolete or anything. I just know that the OE's are kinda moving on, I'm always interested in what the next thing is.
Split housings... open them up (to install projectors, etc). Could be a good outlet for guys that have $$$ CTR headlights to not have to take their lights apart while improving output. If projectors are required, kind of a moot point.
They're technically touch less bright than HID, but I think I prefer the quality of the light. My mom has them on her Acura and they are fantastic, the Audi ones are pretty amazing as well.
