HID Wiring question
how do i go about wiring my hid ballast directly to a toggle switch not at all connected to my oem harness (95 integra btw)
i tried battery---inline fuse----switch-----ballast----lights but the lights did not fire up and blew the fuse also when i tried without the fuse the +wire just heated up and did nothing so i pulled it.....
i tried the same battery---inline fuse----switch----halogen lights and it works perfect
does this mean i have an issue with my ballasts or am i missing something in the wirirng to make them fire up
thanks in advance

the possibilities of an electrical fire.... lol
anyways you need to use a relay. there is no way that a switch will be able to handle the draw that the ballasts require.

here's some more info on relays.

basically when the coil is charged (low current via switch) it will switch the Normally Open Contact, closed, basically this will be the positive lead going to the ballast.
so positive lead goes to the switch, when you turn the switch "on", it will energize the coil. make sure ground is attached to the other coil lead on the relay.
this would then close the normally open contact, one contact will be to 12v positive while the other will go to the positive lead on the ballasts.
btw you can find automotive relays in radio shack or your local auto parts store.
