Default HID questions/options?

Hi, I really like the look of HID lamps, and the extra light they provide while driving. I have an 05 Accord, and from what I've seen, My options are to: #1. pay over $500 for the JDM headlights which are HIDs, #2. get some kind of HID retrofit from another HID car, or #3. get a simple bulb/ballast setup.

As far as pricing, I believe it will cost something like $300-$400 for the parts for a retrofit, and I can get a 600k bulb/ballast kit from another 7th gen Accord owner for $40 shipped.

What would installation entail, since I've never done anything but replace a normal bulb and am a noob at wiring/electronic mods? The simple kit would be much easier to install than the retrofit, I assume?

I've read that the quality isn't all that great, and I would like to know if they're decent enough to buy since I can get a set for dirt cheap.

You can get OEM HID headlights for your car for $500? I would jump on that if I were you. However if they're JDM, that means the cutoff will be oriented for RHD cars on the left side of the road, so you will be putting a lot of extra glare towards oncoming cars to your left.

PnP HID kits are junk, period. You can do an HID projector retrofit for $400 if you shop around.

I've seen lots of late-model Accord retrofits on HIDplanet.com and most of them look really nice, pretty much like Honda made it that way.

I've seen Inspire HID's for $500-600 used. New they go for much more than that, usually without the bulbs. They are extremely rare though; obviously after spending that much the buyer would rather keep them around for a while.

Maybe I'll check out hidplanet
