Default HID KIT with no Harness

I've done a search, no solid answer....

How crucial is it that we use a relay harness when installing a HID kit into the car?

I know everybody states it is just plug and play with nothign else required.

I normally would say to get it no matter what. I fried all my wires in my eclipse because of a plug and play setup. But I think honda uses better wires and haven't 'heard' about anyone having problems. I'm interested to know myself though.
