Default EDM adjustable headlights. What do you need to get them working?

I have the EDM EG headlights and the switch, but I'm wondering if anyone has done one of these. Do you need some sort of relay, like in the Power folding Mirrors? Or do you just need the head lights and the switch, and it's just a matter of wirring it up? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

nobody can chime in? No one has ever done any of these?

The lights are plug and play, but the city lights are not working, and I haven't tried to wire up the switch. Just looking for someone who'd done this before.

Anyone? <insert cricket chirp here>

about 12 to 18 months ago I saw an EG for sale in Texas on Auto trader or something, and he said that he had the EDM headlight hooked up. I don't know, perhaps a project for the summer.

Does anyone have a wireing diagram for these, perhaps out of an EDM manual or something? Let me know.

Thanks for the response Ducky

Not many people can reach into their back pockets and pull out European-spec wiring diagrams.

I had to wrestle with installing JDM EF9 power folding mirrors. between the mixed information and mismatching colors, I ended up tracing every wire and eliminating my options. Let me look in my archive of manuals (PDFs) for the European EG6/9. I might have it on my network storage at home. I'll post if I find it, otherwise I suggest your best bet is finding something along those lines.

The first is a portion of the JDM/EDM "Helms" Manual that relates to a few subjects, including electrical. I skimmed through it only to find a brief section on Headlight adjusters. The second manual should be of more use to you; it is the full version.

Thank you Dr Squish. The first opened without any problems. The second is having a hard time opening, but we'll see. I'll give it some more time.

just hook it up to ur , corner lights or just hook it up to power, with a relay and hook up a switch to route up to your interior so u can make it go on when u want
if u want oem specs wiring diagram i cant help u there

ive done some city lights before if thats wat ur talking about .. to open it ?? im not so sure .. but if u want to custom some citi lights hole then u should open it and dremel the hole and work ur way from there

headlight, pry open

drill from the back

after opening it u should drill from the front

watever, suppose to look liek this after u open it

the simple baking process to mount everything back in; also check if the city lights and stuff fit the hole u just drilled etc etc... lol

this is the wiring diagram from the signal lights
green is constant etc .. should be self explanatory

this is how it should look like when it is hooked up to the corner lights, different colors to differentiate the bulbs and stuff blue = city light

when ur done it should look like this

oh and i just had to ..

He's asking about how to wire up the adjustable level controllers for edm headlights, not how to do city lights....

this is really tough to find anything on. you might want to just find a way to fit it on your headlights yourself. wiring will be the hard part

They aren't self leveling right?

Just has some kind of motor, and a switch that determines the downward angle?

post some pics of the wiring coming out of the headlight...

and a pic of the switch..

i don't think they would use anything complicated...so get a mulit meter, and start probing..

wiring, black is usually ground, and red is usually positive, so go from there...

I'm on vacation right now, but when I get back, I'll start documenting everything. I'll take pics of the headlights, and the switch and post them up next week.

ahhhhh....the sweetness of rare and prestige EDM options. I love it. Yeah, you need a control module. Dude, do you have the adjusting motors with your lights?

you have a switch with many buttons, right?
This is what you do:
On the back of the headlight, you will have a plug with three pins(vertically)

Pin #1a: Ground
Pin #2b: Switch
Pin #3c: Positive

You then start making a two-relay harness(one for each separate headlight.

Relay will have a 4pin or 5pin.
You're going to use 3 pins only.
Pin 85,86 will go to your lparking lights(either 85 or 86 can be positive or negative so don't worry about it).
and 87 will be your positive wire that will hook up to the battery with a 5amp inline fuse.
The switch you have will have 4 or 5 pins on the back depending on what you have really(I don't know about the edm products)
By looking at the back:
Pin #1b will be the lightbulb and power(for some, it will be lightbulb only)
Pin #2b will be a ground for the light bulb of the switch
Pin #3b will be a common ground
Pin #4b will be a positive for the switch
Pin #5b (if it exists) will be a positive(giving a pulse of 12v)

Anyways, since i already gave you the basics, you can do the following:

Now you do the followings:
1) Ground pin #1a(on the back of the headlight) will go to Pin#2b and Pin#3b(on the switch) then, extend the wires to and add a terminal on the end to ground it to the chassis or negative side of the battery.
2) Pin #2a will go to Pin #4b
3) Pin #3a will go pin#1b and pin#5b(if necessary) and on the relay, it will go to #87
4) On the relay, #85 and #86 will go to either positive or negative from the parking lights.

Power it on and play with it.
I do not assume responsability as yours may be different from a rather broad explanation I made. Once you have everything in your hands, it will become really easy to follow. If your system varies, then do not do anything! post pics of what you have for further installation

These arent self leveling. They each have a motor on the back. I believe there are 8, maybe 9 wires on the back of each of the headlamps. I do not have a pic of the back of the switch, but I think theres only 3.

These used to be mine, before I gave them up to Aaron (OP), since he jocked them so much. I searched and searched EDM websites, and never found a source for an EDM manual or a wiring diagram. So bump to help this guy out.

shutterfly is being teh ghey right now, or I would post the pics ive got of them.
