Default K24 built for ultimate reliability

Hey Guys,
I'm kinda new to Honda engines but am interested in using a K24 in an offroad vehicle.

Like the title says reliability is what I'm looking for. I need roughly 150hp continously with maybe occasional bursts up to 200 hp(NA no turbo). Maybe build it to take 300hp but know you'll never push it that hard just so you know the reliability is there. Basically imagine being out in the middle of nowhere with no one to come rescue you. Anything that might strand you gets deleted. All limp modes get disabled. The engine should continue to operate with some issues as long as it gets you home (within reason and knowing you might have to rebuild it when you do get home).

So what base engine would you guys recommend?
I've seen a video where a guy swapping a hemi deleted the variable valve setup, and that seems like something that could be done for the VTEC system on this engine? I'm not talking about disabling in the ecu but putting a pin through all 3 intake valve rocker arms on each cylinder to lock them together and deleting the solenoid. Is that feasible?

Anyway, like I said I'm only getting started researching this engine, so thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Will
