Hey Honda-Tech,
My name is Tony Thomas aka Tsquared since a friend gave me the nick name in 8th grade. I guess I'm what you call an old Honda Head. I've always loved the EM1. A buddy in the Marine Corps, asked me to ride the bus with him from Camp Pendelton to San Diego one Saturday morning. He said he didn't want to go buy himself to buy a car, little did I know our first stop was a Honda dealership. We walk in the dealership and what do I see but the cleanest 2000 Civic Si, in nighthawk black...That was it and my buddy said the same thing. He was like that's the one I'm buying it! After that it would be my mission to own this car myself. But, at that age I got married and it wasn't in the wife's plans so we got a four door Sentra do to credit issues. Years would pass, before I would own my own Civic Si, I got divorced a year later and I always say it's because she was a Nissan fan and had me rolling a Altima eventually, but I could really never get into Nissan. I then joined the Arrmy after 911 and got re married, I deployed to Iraq in the spring of 2004 and returned the following spring 2005. My wife was so excited for my return, we had a new baby girl and she had just purchased the new Mazda 6. I get home and the next day she's like let's go I have a great day planned, for you. So I get in the "Brand New Mazda". She drives and I'm like I really need a car, but we can't afford another car payment. I was stationed at Ft Hood in Killeen TX and she was driving to Dallas for this great day planned and it was an amazing day sight seeing and restraunts. All of the sudden as we are leaving the Mall, she gets a phone call and all I could hear was "it's ready" and then her say "ok, thanks" and I was like WTF! I give it to her though she never falters or gives it away. We get back in the car and drive to a residential area. And at this point I'm getting curios and I wanna know what we're doing. We pull into a drive way of a very nice house and there's an older man standing in front of his three car garage, I'm asking my wife who's this guy? And she says I have a surprise for you! I was like ok, so I get out and shake the mans hand and introduce myself and he says I hear that you are a 2000 Honda Civic Si fan... And my heart beats starts to speed up and my hands get sweaty and my wife grabs my arm as he presses his garage door opener and the first thing I see is those beautiful tail lights and the Si badge. This is crazy I'm saying to myself, my wife had heard me talking about my favorite car of all time for years and she managed our money properly and saved $5,000 and found this car with the help from
My brother who lived in Dallas at the time. The old man was the only owner he said, he walked into Honda dealership and saw this 2000 Electron Blue Si on show room floor and bought it, because he was in all of the color and simplicity of the vehicle, but yet it was gorgeous. And yes it was the OG blue, the car was in excellent condition no chips, dents, scratches, bugs on bumper nothing and the interior was the cleanest I had ever seen I look at the odometer and it read 5,000 miles and lifted the hood to see that gorgeous black valve cover and the B16 on the block. The funnest drive back to the hotel and home I ever had. Once back in reality, I was not ready for the numerous theft attempts once we returned to Killeen. I was constantly doing police reports and eventually getting a garage and after many Si badges and wheels later I sold the car due to more children... Soo sad! Well eventually I bought of the show room a 2008 Civic Si sedan in Kentucky. Amazing car!!! Kept that for 2 years and traded it in for 2008 Mugen Si sedan. I currently have a project Integra sedan with a GSR Swap. Finally have time to work on the car and learn more about the B series motor."Once a fan always a fan"
Thanks
