Learning Because I Must
So, a little about me. I’m a 38 year old female who has done a bit of parts changing to keep my vehicles going. I lucked out and got a 97 Honda Civic Dx with a B16A2 swap. Here comes the unlucky part. The guy who built it didn’t seem to know much except to get it running. It came with a bunch of performance parts like Skunk2 Ultra Intake and some Spoon hoses. I added the Skunk2 Alpha throttle body because it had an eBay knockoff they had gotten some sort of epoxy all over to try to fix a vacuum leak. My husband is the gear head, but he is disabled and recently was in a wreck in our truck. Hence, I have been thrust into becoming a mechanic to try to fix its lovely hunting idle and other hiccups, like just having water in the radiator, along the way.
Start spraying brake cleaner on all the vacuum hoses and injectors at the manifold and listen for the idle to change. Bleed the coolant properly. Remove and clean the IACV
Thank you. I did all that and much more. Come to find out, the person who did the swap must’ve been totally insane. They put Toyota clips and fuel injectors on the motor. I would’ve never guessed, except for the fact that my OTOFIX D1 Lite showed the fuel injectors weren’t functioning properly.
