I am a 57 year old woman who is planning a cross country trip in my 2015 Honda civic LX and camping and asked a question about putting some rails or a rack on top of my car as the top has nothing on it. I love animals, traveling and camping and don't mind getting dirty while doing it...lol Next summer I am planning to drive from Illinois west towards Washington, Oregon, Utah, Arizona etc. I plan on staying in BLM land for a few months and really need a lot of info. on how to install some type of rails on top of the car so I can add some storage bags up there. I will be sleeping in the car/ or the tent, after I do a makeover and remove the passenger and back seats and then flattening the base of car with boards and 2x4's. I have never really been anywhere so I am ready to start traveling and the car is what I have even though rather small so that is why I need to get some bars or something on my roof to hold additional items. I have the basic 9th generation 2015 Honda civic LX sedan with no extras-backup screen I have but that is it. Also interested in what other people have as gps for traveling directions? I have read that Google is just as good as Garmin as there are many flukes and issues with the Garmin and the apps that I have read. Basically just need help in stabilizing the roof so I can add the storage so I can travel with everything I need. Currently living in an apartment and anxious to get out of the everyday grind of all the bills that come with a house.
