Hey all!
Okay. I guess once you get the modding bug you never lose it. I fell in love with sport compact performance back in 1993. At the time I'd just bought my first Saturn coupe. Without any performance parts around, and having a background in V8 modding with my 78 Chevy Camaro, I bought a dry manifold nitrous kit and 50-shotted my way though the rest of the year.
I raced a guy from a place called SGP (back in the day, known for a fast 300zx) and after talking, he turned me on to some performance place up in Ohio for the saturn.
Long, long story short, I have modded saturns for the better part of 27 years and in that time was part of the saturn motorsports team with Lisa Kubo as our driver. We did really well in that endeavor but then sport compact drag racing took a nose dive for drift and that was all she wrote for me in that industry. I still mod my saturn though but as you can expect, that niche...if it ever was a niche...is gone....gone gone. Parts, particularly internal engine, are hard to find and very costly.
So, my final project is going to by my old 95 Saturn coupe with the popular k24 block/k20 head, with boost. I just finished up a rear-mount turbo kit for my 97 saturn and now that this is done, I figure with the plentiful parts available for the honda engine setups, if you can't beat them, join them and JOIN THEM I MEAN TO DO!
PFI speed showed me you can have upwards of 700hp with an open deck block built correctly, from all their youtube vids and I'm SUPER EXCITED as brent would say, to get this thing going.
Having said that, I'm not young (pushing 52 this august) but this sport MAKE me feel young inside and that's what matters!
Keep up the great work! I'm glad to be accepted into the group!
