Default 2019 Pilot Charging System Problem

Hello, my name is Tom. I reside in Tampa, FL. I'm a retired air traffic controller in my late 70's. I've never been on a forum before but I'm hoping someone has any suggestions for my issue:2019 Pilot Touring FWD (43K) - I purchased this vehicle in Oct 2018. I’m at a loss. I’ve had the vehicle to the dealer twice and they say the alternator and battery – 2 yrs old - check good. They said there were no codes. But they can’t explain to me why the system isn’t putting out 14.1V whenever the vehicle is in gear but does so in park or neutral.

Charging System when initially starting the engine indicates 14.1V. After driving for 2 or 3 minutes the voltage rapidly drops to 12.2V, or, I’m guessing, battery voltage. I understand Honda has a two stage charging system but the lower voltage is only supposed to happen under light loads or demands.

It does not change from 12.2V to 14.1V even when accelerating or at highway speeds. Turning on the AC with fan on high, headlights on full bright to increase load makes no difference. The voltage remains at 12.2V.

BUT THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS IN GEAR.

Whenever I put the transmission into neutral or park the voltage quickly returns to 14.1V regardless of the electrical load; put it back into gear and it drops again to 12.2V.

The charging system dashboard light does NOT illuminate. I’m assuming the sensor for that is on or near the alternator and the alternator itself is working correctly.

The idle/stop function is not working either. The engine does not stop and the indicator with an “A” that’s normally green does not display. If I select idle/stop off the amber “A” does appear.

Something happens between the alternator and the battery whenever the transmission is in gear.

One other oddity: When I’m cruising and it’s indicating 12.2V and I let off the accelerator approaching a traffic light the system, usually but not always, will briefly go to 14.1V while decelerating but then go back to 12.2V before I even stop.
.
Thank you for permitting me to make this post. I appreciate any help or suggestions.
