Default Where to attach hoist to block to remove?

Just wondering what to hook the hoist up to when I pull the block/tranny out of my car.

TIA.

You should look at your shop manual, which will have the lift points. That said, I lifted my B18 engine/tranny combo by using the stock clutch cable holder (cable tranny) and by threading a bolt into the top/front of the head by the timing belt. There's are a few holes there for the power steering pump bracket (which my motor didn't have). Anyway the lift points must be at the top of the engine/tranny. I used a hook on the chain to hook at the clutch cable holder and then threaded a bolt through the other end of the chain, attaching it to the head (at the power steering pump. Make sure the chain can't slip past the bolt!!!

I used a length of chain rated many times stronger than the weight of the engine/tranny (which I estimated to be 350 lbs). Two ends of chain would have to hold about 175 lbs, so the chain I used was rated for something like 1350lbs.

Don't even think about getting under the motor, or have you hands or feet there. Motors can slip and drop. I also used a long bolt and nut at the "V" where the chain hooks at the engine lift to ensure the chain would not slide from side to side (In other words of the tranny was heavier I didn't want the chain slipping so that the tranny would dip down).
