what's the diff between k20a2 and the k20a-r

Default what's the diff between k20a2 and the k20a-r

i am going to put a k20 in a dc2 and want to now what the difference is mechanically between the jdm and usdm motor is? i know that the jdm has 20 more hp,but how is this achieved. i can get a usdm k20a2 for a steal and was wondering how i could pickup that extra 20 hp?

i think it has different cams, lighter flywheel and LSD is some of the differences i know off top of my head

different cams, intake manifold, pistons, rods, crank, valvetrain, ECU and LSD. The 05 RSX's k20z1 is much closer to the R.

so basically the only thing that's the same is the displacement? at least hat's what i get from the info i have recieved.

Well yeah but go for the usdm k20a if u can get it for a good price, 20 hp is easily achieved with those motors.

plus if you plan on upgrading cams or any other internals it would just be cheaper to buy the usdm
