What to use?
If i go LS/Vtec, which i most likely am...what axles would i use? LS axles...and could i use n e other ones that would be stonger..or are ls axles strong enough??????thanks for your help..
I am also considering the LS/VTEC swap up but mine is going in an INtegra. I will be betting it, its just a matter of money and time. I am probably going to be using the stock axles but again its in an intgra and i dont know how it would be in a civic or other. I have a few other questions if there are anyother guys out there that have dont this sot of work on there ride.
1.~~~ While the head is off..it will be a b16A from a Delsol which has already been checked out for integrity and condition and is in full working order. While its off, what other work as far as machineing could be performed that would be benificial to the performance and duribilty/dependibility of the setup? Considering the fact that it will not be raced everyweekend, probably once a month if even that. Its a daily driven acura with 110K on the clock. I have heard a few mention milling the heads or polishing the valves or 3 angle valve job. What is the dependability of these?
2,~~~ This is purely cosmetic but what is the color code for the red valve covers? I think it looks nice and would be a decent dress up and while its off might as well.
3.~~~Pistons....how bout the rings? Dont wanna replace pistons cause thats a money issue that i dont wanna mess with to be honest with you. The whole reason for not jus swapping for a b18c or C5 is that i really like the feeling of the LS engine with the better low end torque and response. Some of you guys that drive an LS can relate im sure. But how bout the rings? At this current time i am burning no oil and runs well.
4.~~~How does this engine work effect compression? I relize that i will need to use premium fuel but does this effect comp. and if so what is it??
Sorry about the length of the post, sometimes i get winded. I would appriciate the help from anyone even moderators. Thanks everyone

Ok, first off lets get rid of the myth.
You do not need new axles when doing a LS/VTEC in your integra. You are not going to make that much HP.
Now to answer your questions.....
1 - If you plan on using a B16 head, you might as well make sure it's working properly. This means milling the head to make sure it's not warped, and having a 3 angle valve job done, along with replacing the valve guides. This will ensure long life.
2 - The Red valve cover is a ITR part, wether it be for JDM or USDM. There is no color code for a red valve cover, it is its own part.
3 - If you have 110k miles on the block, might I suggest a complete rebuild on the bottom end. The high revs that you plan on doing will cause stress on parts that were never designed to rotate that fast. You're being misled about the B18C5 bottom end and it's capabilities.
4 - Since you don't want to do any engine work (bottom end related) the effective compression will stay about the same. Since you don't want to change the pistons to say B16, then you're really just adding VTEC to your LS engine.
If you're really serious about doing the LS/VTEC, then invest some money and time into it. This engine combo can be extremely powerful, but you're missing the main points. When building this engine, you'll need to change the pistons and have the bottom end balanced for the higher revs, you'll also want to change the oil pump to the ITR for higher volume and pressure.

ok,
first off let me start by saying thanks for the response and helpful information. There are a few things however that think i might not have come accross as clear as i had intended so i will try again.
1.~~~I definatly realize that the ITR is a beast for sure. Loads of power and speed for sure. Not that i dont want that, but it is kinda straying away from my original intentions which was to do this change up on a low budget.
Maybe i was missinformed but i was under the impression that for non-race appliciations bottom end work wasnt necessary. And if im using a stock program gsr computer i wont be reving that high. Since this car will rarely be raced i assumed that the bottom end,(i was planning on using GSR oil pump) would be ok.

ok, so if pistons are definatly in order then where do i go from here?? I really like the low end feel of the LS but i can definatly see where you are comming from in saying that the different pistions will compiment the swap. Which would you recomend on a budget? Preferably OE honda stuff.
