Default What does a 'KNOCK SENSOR' do? Help needed on transplant!!!!!!

Please can anyone help? My mate (Maz) has just put in a B16A1 in the place of his standard ZC in his Jap import '91 CRX. He has bought a Place Racing wiring loom converter, and has found every plug except the 'Knock sensor' wire! He has connected everything except this. The engine turns over but won't start! Does anybody know what the knock sensor does? Would it prevent the engime from starting? What else should he be checking if the engine turns over but doesn't start?
Thanks for your help, Matt!!

p.s. Please please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no it will not do that....the knock sensor helps prevent detonation.

What I would do is first, check if there is still gas in the tank. Then check ignition coil...honda coils are notorious for going out...

a b16a1 does not have a knock sensor that could be a big problem.other than that check out every wire and check your coil.

i would think it would still start even if the knock sensor wasn't hooked up, try going over the wiring again maybe something just isn't hooked up right. the knock sensor detects detonation sends it back to the ecu and the computer retards the timing to fight detonation.

in any b16a there IS a knock sensor. the knock sensor is located in the back of the motor under the intake manifold with a single wire. you can start your car without a knock sensor connected. with the car starting and not turning over you should double check your wiring set up if thats not the problem try checking yoru map sensor.

Is your car turning over? Trying to start? Did you replace the timing belt? check the cam to crank timing. Try a different distributor. Try another ECU. The lists goes on and on...
