any b seris motors are interchangable so a type r head would fit on a b20 block ????? why is everyone doing gsr and b16 and not type r?????

yes it will fit, its because the B16 head flows better than the GSR head, and the R head is hard to find, and expensive.

Not exactly that the GSR head doesn't flow very good, it's just that the b16 head and ITR head are the same casting. ITR is just ported and polished and better internals. A psuedo-R to say.

the type r is basically b16 head that flows better.

You can use any b-series vtec head to make the B20/Vtec. The B16 head is used most often primarily because of cost. The b16 is much cheaper than gsr and gsr is much cheaper than itr.

The stock b16 head is not better flowing than the stock gsr head. If you calculate the port flow needed for a gsr using its displacement and redline it comes out greater than that of the b16.

Yep.....the taller profile and other reasons make the GSR head the best potential flowing as well. B16 heads are a dime a dozen (less $$) and Type R is the best "stock" Honda head, so I'm guessing that when people spend more money than a B16, they just go ahead and get a Type R.

man just cc the b16a cumbustion to gsr specs and have a slight p$p done to the b16a head type r cams, inner valve springs, manifold, intake valves, and there is the perfect (STOCK) honda head.

you have to enlarge the chambers to match the bores of the b20. have to take it to a machine shop.

typeR motor isnt worth it if youre going to get lets say a b16a or b18c and modify them anyway. but if youre going to stay stock, its all upto you. B20C5 sounds pretty good though.....
