Strut bars and exhaust
I have been reading up on suspension upgrades for my civic, and i frequented a product called a strut bar? i understand that this is a stock piece that is upgraded? can anyone brief me on what its true purpose is? is it like a trans ams trailing arms? (can anyone guess what car i had before?heh) and the other part of this topic is, what do you all believe to be the best exhaust (complete, not just cat-back) that doesn t make that horrific fartpipe noise and gains the most horsepower? i think flowmaster has a good setup, but i don t know of any HP gains from it.
well first of all...this is in the wrong forum. Second, its kind of hard to give you advice on good strut bars, and exhaust when you just say you have a Civic. What year? Model? etc...
Now on to your questions...
A complete exhaust will just be a cat back system. You can add a race header that will eliminate the cat that bolts up to that cat-back. I think thats as close to what you are looking for. Flowmaster exhausts are good for domestic cars. You have an import now...stick with a good import name: Mugen, HKS, GReddy, etc.
Strut bars are used to take the twist out of your car when you are cornering. Most stock cars dont come with these. But thats ok, cause when you dump your money on buying some for your car, you can feel the difference in your cars handling characteristics, instead of just thinking that you wasted all your money on something that did nothing to help your performance.
Hope that helps a little. Next time post in the civic forum, and do a search...you can find lots of answers there.

Thank you, I apologize for the incorrect posting, and my car is a 92 civic dx. Just a quick 2 questions before i let this bad post die, if i get a race header and it eliminates the stock cat, do i need a different or high flo cat to connect the cat-backs? And the strut bars, do they weld in or bolt in, if most cars didn t come with them?
If you get a header that eliminates the cat, it should either bolt up to the cat-back system you have, or you buy a straight pipe that connects the two.
The strut bars bolt in place. To take full effect of your strut bars, you are going to want to lower your car, and eventually upgrade your sway bars.
Good Luck
