Default speed sensor problem in H22a EG

This kid i know has a h22a in a EG and because the civic didnt have power steering his speed sensor wont work for some reason. which makes his VTEC not work, because the ecu doesnt know the car is moving.

power steering has nothing to do with the speed sensor. It is only held on by one bolt so sometimes it is known to come loose. Check it out and make sure it is sitting properly. Secondly check your wiring and make sure its not loose or frayed. Last thing is to replace the sensor..
