Re: (canis)

if he has trouble with it hitting the hood, he could just get the sir hood cuz it would give him more clearance
it does look to be tighter in the front but the radiator might not be a problem but he is also doign it all custom and i salute him, i will be one to wait fo rthe hasport kit, too much custom for me to do it without it

Re: (hondapride59)

The motor isnt going to move that much or I should say as much as you may think. In every location that may be tight there is atleast 1/2" gap. The motor mounts are turning out really good I will have pix of the finished product tonight for the driver side and passenger side. I think its pretty much what hasport did on the passenger side. Couldn't tell from the picture. I made a whole steel unit with ears that will be welded into the car on the passenger side. On the rear crossmember near the passenger side bottom control arm bracket ( i think it is) you will need to hit it in to make clearance for the back of the tranny and also the trans drain plug. Like "2point2" but i think he may of relocated the plug? or used a allen fitting? But it gave us a little bit of a fit. Bad place for a drain plug https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

I called a local shop that specializes in axles. There is about an 1" we can play with on both sides to make a hybrid axle work. and for $115 a piece, I was happy to say the least.

Hasport watch out!!! lol jk!!! I was very happy how the welds turn out! You can see where the old ears were...

Nice swap!! One question though, what made you decide to go with the H series over the K series?

ExplicitSpeed360 Jun 1, 2005 04:40 PM

Re: (digitalRSX)

H series in my eyes is a better designed engine more so then the K series. More power capabilities. More power out of the box. More parts. Better in just about every way. Not to mention half the price of a K series. So to me it was a no brainer. The K series to me at this point seems kinda all hype. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: (ExplicitSpeed360)

I want to put a K24A2 in my CRX but I don't know what kind of issues I will run into as far as fitting it under the hood. I know it will be too tall first of all. I don't know how wide it will be. I also don't know if I can use the A/C. I will have to do the OBD II conversion. There is a lot of work involved but I think that the K24A2 (TSX engine) will be well worth it.

I think it's a tough sell trying to convince people that Honda took a step backward with the K-series engine.

June 2- Well it appears all the hard work is done. All 3 motor mounts in and sittin on there on weight. I am very happy with the end result. Now its down hill, the accord shifter assembly and bracket for the altenator and clutch cable and then wirring and it should be done. Next weekend all the mods should be done. Axles will take a day to get and wirring a few days. I will keep postin up pix. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
There is actually alot of room in the front!

Here is a new pic of the custom rear mount...

Thanks! It is a lot of work no joke but the pay off should be worth it!!!

Re: (ExplicitSpeed360)

Looks like a great project. The only thing that really caught my eye and kind of raised a red flag, is the rear tranny mount. That bar doesnt look very sturdy and I can almost see bad things happening to those welds. Something like that, imho, should be one solid peice and not 2 pieces welded together. Or maybe, at the very least, the metal should be 2 to 3 times thicker then what you have depicted. Hopefully it works out for you and im completely wrong, though.

ExplicitSpeed360 Jun 4, 2005 10:06 AM

Re: (AudioFuct)

Thanks for the concern. The rear tranny mount is basically to balance the motor and under hard acceleration. I used thicker stuff on the rear mount too 1/4" because the design I choose. The welds to me seem unbreakable. But we will find out. The two side mounts take up all the load. So for the moment I feel very confident.

Re: (ExplicitSpeed360)

June 7- I finished the custom altenator bracket and tensioner a few days ago. I installed the shifter assembly out of an 90-93 accord it is a little bit smaller and not as bulky as the prelude. Plus the cables are exactly the right length. Looks like the last thing to make will be the clutch cable bracket and ill be done minus little details. I will keep ya guys posted. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Little details:
make civic radiator fit install slim fan, wirring, axles, modify obx header,
intstall teg discs all around, brake booster, master cylinder, perportioning valve
make custom e brake cables, powder coat everything, paint engine bay, install skunk2 coilovers and my agx shocks, brembo slotted rotors all around, possibly make a custom strut bar if I have the time, etc. etc. etc. so about 2-3 weeks it should be on the road...

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg
There is about 1/2" of room between altenator and wheel well, which is plenty
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg
90-93 accord shifter assembly installed

its a bracket that holds the stock clutch cable and you make ears for the hydro fork to have the cable unit slide in it. I havent made it because its too simple and its something I will do when I get the engine in for the final time after painting the bay. Tom. just gotta make my custom mounts for the civic radiator and get the gangsta lean on it https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif. Make new mounts for the radius rods and I am pretty much done with the hard slightly hard stuff. I sat the car on the ground for the first time oil pan is a lil over 5" from the ground on stock height https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif so i got atleast lower it 2" I wasnt too happy with that, just gotta watch over the bumps, There is about 3/4" of clearance on the hood so I was happy with that https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

good job on that alt bracket https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif can u get some pix of the tensioner u made for it?

i had made myself a custom alt bracket before, and mounted up where the PS pump went, but then my tensioner stripped and i had to go back to stock... totally sucked.

Just an update, I got all of my suspension and brakes done, Teg brakes all around, brembo slotted rotors, kyb agx shocks, skunk2 teg coilovers. I also mounted my radiator with the lean. Just gotta do the new radius rod ears and a clutch cable bracket, then wirring and should be done pretty soon. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
