New b18C....
I am ordering a JDM b18c next week from hondamotorsonline.com for my 97 coupe. What is absolutely MANDATORY that i do to the engine before I swap it in? I am going to clean it on the outside, etc..., but does any1 else have recommendations as to what I should do? I was thinking about hot-tanking it, but is that necessary? This is going to be an all-motor daily driver, so reliability is my main concern. Let the knowledge flow.....
replace ALL the seals you can, belts, CV boots, fluids (make sure you have oil in the transmission). make sure you have all the necessary parts. motor mounts, ECU, shift linkages, Exhaust manifold (I had to use one from a B16a) bushings, thermostat,
do an engine flush and coolant flush asap(make sure to open the drain bolts in the block when draining the coolant) thats all i can think of....
good luck!

How about in the way of machining? Should i get a port/polish or hot tank done? On a side note, will i need to re-do the exhaust, or will the b-series header be compatible with my ex exhaust? Kind of a budget swap at the moment....after i get the motor and new flywheel/clutch and necessary parts i will be almost flat broke...
i agree to all of the above.. if you don't have money to do everything make sure you replace timing belt, water pump and spark plugs (duh) at the very least.. you've no idea how that motor has been treated.. all new fluids is also a no-brainer
