Get the 6G head. The square combustion chamber is better than the Z6's. Also you get a higher compression ratio than the 5G head.

I'm working on swapping an EX head onto my 96 DX. I know on 96 up, the VTEC and non VTEC distribs are the same. On the wiring harness, I've been wondering if you can just make a VTEC switch, using something like the MSD RPM activated switch and forego swapping the expensive harness and ECU. Anybody else know about this? And damnit, was diggin around the junkyard the other day and finally found a 98 EX motor, but they would onl sell it complete. They onyl wanted 550 for the complete engine with 12k miles, but damnit, I don't need the whole thing.

I recommend geting an ecu

with my swap, i used the field VTEC controller but there seems to be a problem somewhere with the VTEC

I think you should also get a VTEC distributor, as 1 of the wires inside is different than the non-VTEC
