Hey People,
I've had a J1 B16A tranny in my CRX since July of 2002. My problem is the sincro. gears are grinding at high RPM's going into 2nd and 3rd. Can I purchase these gears from my local Honda Dealer??? If so what model and year of car??

Come on people , I know someone has got to have the same problem with there tranny?? Are you guys that have synchro problems when changing gears at high RPM's just dealing with it ?? or is there a solution to the problem???

 

J1 transmission is a similar housing as the Y1, S1, and A1 transmissions. Unfortunately Honda does not make gears for the small-shaft transmissions so you're either stuck with A) finding another transmission, B) only replacing bearings or using the gears from a 90-91 Integra only, if Acura even sells those (same size... A1 tranny) or C) finding another used gear set that's in good shape and using those parts.

 

Thanks for the info Newman. Just curious is this common that all B-series transmissions grade the synchros when shifting the gears fast at high RPMs???Is there some trannys that do it worse than others???

 

um, also try adjusting your clutch, it works wonders on a cable tranny...
