HELP: H22 swap with CEL
I currently have three CEL codes on my car. Code 6= engine coolant temperature, code 10= intake air temperature, and code 14 which is idle control system. right now I believe my car is in safty mode right now because I can't feel the vtec kicking in, also how important is the intake air temperature sensor? I'm asking because the person that did my wiring left out the plug that plugs up to the IAT. Also when I start my car the engine would just run for a couple a seconds then it would shut down, I would have to let it crank up for about three times until my engine would stay on, could this be the idle control system? Last week I would only have to crank it up once for the engine to start and to stay on, but now it would take about 3 times. Right now the idle is at about 750rpm even when its cold and not warm up yet, but when I step on the throttle and let go the rpm gauge would go down to about 250rpm and seem like its about to die, then it would go up to 750 rpm again. Also on first gear when I take off slowly the car would boggle like I have the 2 step revlimiter, is it because I;m runing open header? The car is a 96 hb and the motor is a 98 jdm. Right now I'm running the p72 ecu with the obd 1 converter harness.
Just change the coolant temperature sensor by the thermostat. It costs like $30 bucks. If that is bad then it will throw off other things like AICV and give you a funky idle.. Change it out and then see if the other CELS disappear...

And yes it does. There are 2 coolant sensors on JDM engines and its the one by the thermostat that you want to change..
That should get rid of your AICV code as well assuming all your wiring is correct..

There are two ECT's. There is one by the thermostat and another one is the head that assists.. Trust me on this one.. There is also another but it just sends a signal to your guage as a readout for the temperature needle..
Change the one in the thermostat housing and you will be fine..

thanks for all the help guys, I will try all the things that you guys advise me this weekend. Is the ect sensor and iacv on the h22 interchangeable with my stock dx motor?

Although I am not 100% positive on the ECT, but I don't believe that is interchangable either.
