Default ECU question for a b18c obd2

I've got a 97 civic hatch and recently had it stolen and stripped. They took the ecu along with a bunch of other things. The car has a b18c obd2 engine and it is a 5 speed manual. I'm trying to find out what ecu I need to get to replace it. I think the engine is a 96 or 97, but not positive on that either. I've heard there are two types of obd2 ecus and I'm not sure which one my car would need. How do I figure that out? Also, how do I tell for sure if it is a obd2 engine. I tried doing a search, but wasn't sure what key words to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been a very frustrating situation. Thanks so much for any help you can give.

you need a obd2a p72 ecu, UNLESS you ran a obd2b harness, but i dount that. so obd2a it is

96-98 = obd2a
99-00 = obd2b
