ECU and Distributor
Ok here is my problem...well its not a problem yet but I want to avoid it before i start the transplant. I am putting a b16a1 into my 1994 civic ex vtec. I have the b16a1 distributor...will that work or do I realllllyyy have to get the gsr one?...want can I do to avoid having to purchase one or do I really have to buy it? And how about my sohc vtec ecu p28....do I also have to get a b16a1 ecu or gsr ecu or will my sohc vtec ecu work? I know that if it does work I won't be able to rev. pass 7200rpm and my vtec will be at 5200rpm...but will that be my only problem because if it is I can deal with it until I get my hondata...anyway its not like i am going to see redline anytime soon because I have to break the motor in (fully built)....so tell me guys...do i need a different ecu and do i need a gsr distributor or can i use the b16a1 on the b16a1 motor...i heard i needed a gsr because it won't work on my sohc wire harness...any info asap will be gladly appreciated

exact same thing just cap is different .. once you have corresponding cap you'll be fine. Obviously mut be 92-95 two plug as well, the 96-01 is single plug ...
Quit worrying about insignificant stuff, sounds like you have bigger things to worry about like exhaust flange on header connection to cat converter, wireing KS, etc.

I have the exhaust and all that stuff figures out...I also got a gsr distributor for free from a friend today...thanks for the info...i guess all i need to get now is the ecu
your ecu will work... but if it is stock, your vtec will not be at 5200, it will be closer to 4800
like you said, you will not be able to rev past 7200
however, you will not have to wire a knock sensor, because that ecu doens't look for one. and if you chip it, you will have to make sure the code in the new chip has the knock disabled so you wont throw a code.
you need to use the obd1 gsr dist, if you are using your stock p28 ecu
the obd0 dist will not work (different electronics and diffterent number of teeth)

JOE...I just got myself a p72 obd1 gsr...i guess my reving will be fine now but will I have to worry about that ecu looking for a knock sensor now that i will be using it instead of my p28?
