What's easier when you swap an engine. Pulling the engine from the top or from the bottom and how about putting the other motor in;top or bottom?

On civics/integras, I go bottom.
Prelude/Accord, Top.
MR2 - bottom.
Camry - Top
Trucks - Top
Geo Metro Type-R - Bottom
F-Body Camaro - Bottom
VW 1.8T - Bottom
VW Beetle - Bottom
Audi A6 - Top
Mercedes 560SEL - Top
Toyota 4Runner - Top
Nissan Sentra B13 - Bottom
Old school 80's integra - Top if you wanna remove battery tray, otherwise Bottom
NSX - Bottom
LS400 - Top
WRX - Top or bottom if you take out the suspension/tranmission at the same time.

What kind of car?

I'm putting in a b16 in a civic. I was just wondering if I needed to get a cherry picker or if i'd be ok with doing it on the bottom. thanks for the replies though

I've done 5-6 installs/pulls from EG Civics, but my last install was done from the bottom. I removed the crossmember/LCAS/steering rack and rolled the engine from the bottom on a furniture mover. Then, lowered the car down on the engine. It was so easy, I'll never do it another way.

You'll have guys swearing that top is easier and guys that swear that bottom is easier. I've seen guys drop old motors out the bottom, then drop the new motor in the top. 3 swap here and I've always pulled it out the top. Good luck either way.

it would be easier to go from the bottom, but you will still need a engine hoist.

In the civic it really doesnt matter witch way it all depends on if you have something to lift the card and drop the engine or if you only have someting to lift the engine
Good luck

^ I thought this thread was gonna be about something else...

Depends on what tools you have. Personally, I usually choose top.
